Domain names serve as the gateway to your online presence, facilitating website navigation and email communication. Much like phone numbers, domain names direct internet traffic to specific locations, such as websites or email inboxes, by replacing numerical IP addresses with easy-to-remember words or phrases.
Domain Name System (DNS)
To ensure the uniqueness and functionality of each domain name, the Domain Name System (DNS) establishes rules governing domain name registration. These rules guarantee that each domain name connects to its intended destination, similar to entries in a telephone directory.
Domain Name Transfer Agreement
This Domain Name Transfer Agreement (“Agreement”) outlines the terms and conditions governing the transfer of domain name registrations to Ovvr. By accepting this Agreement, you acknowledge and agree to be bound by its terms, as well as by Ovvr’s Universal Terms of Service Agreement, Domain Name Registration Agreement, and Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy.
Fees and Payment
With every subscription, Ovvr offers one .co.uk or .com domain name, which remains active as long as the subscription is maintained. In the event of subscription cancellation, the domain name may be terminated. Clients wishing to retain ownership of their domain name upon cancellation can purchase it separately at a maximum cost of £20, subject to availability.
Transfer Process for Domain Names
The process for transferring your domain name registration to Ovvr involves several steps:
1. Complete the required information in the online transfer application, including contact and nameserver details.
2. Proceed to the shopping cart and pay for the transfer.
3. Update the Administrative Contact’s email address at your current registrar, as we will contact them for transfer approval.
4. Once initiated, the transfer will be accepted or denied by the losing registrar within five (5) days.
Failed or Rejected Transfer Requests
Ovvr reserves the right to accept or reject domain name transfer applications at its discretion. Reasons for rejection may include, but are not limited to, recent registrations, domain lock status, expiration status, recent changes to registration details, or ongoing disputes.
Terms for Transferring Domain Names
Upon successful transfer, you will remain the registrant of the domain name, with Ovvr becoming the registrar of record. Your registration will be automatically extended by one (1) year where applicable. The transfer process requires acceptance of this Agreement, payment, and positive response from the Administrative Contact.
Transfers of Recently Renewed Domain Names
If transferring a recently renewed domain name, there is a risk of losing the renewal year if the domain was renewed during the forty-five (45) day grace period after expiration. Ovvr does not intervene in such cases, and clients are advised to contact their previous registrar for refunds or credits.
Data for Domain Transfer
By accepting this Agreement, you authorise the transfer of domain name registration to Ovvr. You acknowledge the Domain Name Registration Agreement, ICANN Rules, and other relevant policies governing domain registrations. It’s your responsibility to ensure the accuracy of administrative contact details for successful transfer initiation.
